It’s been a week of benchmark events for my family.
We started our week with a doozy. My father-in-law, who had been fighting brain cancer succumbed to the disease. His passing was expected – but not easier on any of us. We’ve all been operating in a bit of a haze, trying to figure out what to do without the patriarch of my husband’s family.
But that’s not all we’ve experienced this week - we’ve also been making good memories. From dance recitals to graduations, we’re trying to enjoy the important events that take place this time of year.
Going through all of this is tough – it is hard to be fully present for the good stuff, when you can’t stop thinking about the people who aren’t there with you to celebrate.
This weekend, I encourage you to spend time with your family and friends. Take a moment to remember those who are no longer with you and make some new, good memories with those who are here.
Happy Memorial Day!
