KBT Mission Statement
KBT provides education and advocacy for all modes of transportation in the Commonwealth, uniting leaders and citizens to achieve a safe and sustainable transportation system for improved economic development and quality of life.
KBT Vision Statement
We are a trusted source of information and a valued forum for examining critical transportation infrastructure issues and needs throughout Kentucky. KBT is recognized for providing reliable, timely, and unbiased information and recommendations for transportation development. To accomplish our vision, we will:
- Have an active, engaged and diverse membership.
- Clearly articulate economic development and quality of life for an improved integrated transportation system.
- Aggressively advocate for sustainable resources to support and develop this vital infrastructure.
What does KBT do?
- KBT is the unified transportation voice of all modes — air, highway, public transit, rail, and water — as well as providers and users of transportation.
- KBT works with the state’s opinion leaders, news media, and legislative and executive branches of government for the enactment into law/regulation of policy positions.
- KBT works with the Kentucky Congressional Delegation and national transportation leaders to help ensure that the federal responsibility for transportation, as it relates to Kentucky, is fulfilled.
- KBT has active airport, highway, public transit, rail, safety, and waterway committees.
- KBT sponsors the annual Kentucky Transportation Conference that brings local, state, and national leaders together to focus on transportation and economic development.
- KBT provides a MEMBER LETTER and reports and "alert" bulletins to members on state and national transportation legislation and local, regional, and state transportation and related issues and developments.
- KBT maintains liaison with statewide groups such as the Kentucky Municipal League, Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association, Kentucky Association of Counties, Kentucky Chamber, and Area Development Districts. KBT includes in its membership all of these groups.
- KBT does studies and surveys to assist its committees and Board of Directors in developing policy positions.
- KBT uses Washington Fly-Ins to confer with the Kentucky Congressional Delegation and national transportation leaders.
- KBT provides coverage of transportation and related matters being considered by the General Assembly.
- KBT maintains contact with editorial writers of the state’s major newspapers.
- KBT provides speakers and audio-visual presentations for civic clubs and other groups.
